نامه به رئیس مجمع عمومی سازمان ملل در اعتراض به برگزاری مراسم یادبود برای ابراهیم رئیسی

این نامه را به این جهت می‌نویسیم تا سرخوردگی و یأس خود از تصمیم به بزرگداشت ابراهیم رئیسی در جلسه مجمع عمومی را که قرار است در ۳۰ ماه می برگزار شود ابراز کنیم.
ابراهیم رئیسی در دوران تصدی دادستانی در سال ۱۹۸۸ از اعضای «کمیته مرگ» بود. او نقشی اصلی در اعدام ۲۸۰۰ تا ۵۰۰۰ زندانی سیاسی در دهه ۸۰ میلادی بازی کرد. این اقدامات توسط سازمان‌های مختلف حقوق بشری از جمله عفو بین‌الملل به‌طور کامل مستند شده‌اند و زخمی ماندگار در خاطره جمعی خانواده‌ها و بازماندگان قربانیان به جای گذاشته‌اند. ابراهیم رئیسی نه تنها هرگز بابت آن اقدامات عذرخواهی نکرد، بلکه از کشتار هزاران زندانی سیاسی به عنوان یک ضرورت جهت حفظ ارکان جمهوری اسلامی ایران دفاع کرد. او این اقدامات وحشیانه را تا زمان مرگش ادامه داد، به ویژه در جریان سرکوب تظاهرات مسالمت آمیز در جریان جنبش “زن، زندگی، آزادی”.
برگزاری مراسم یادبود برای فردی که مسئول چنین جنایاتی است، نه تنها یک بی عدالتی سهمگین است بلکه توهینی بزرگ خواهد بود به اصول مندرج در منشور ملل متحد و اعلامیه جهانی حقوق بشر. تکریم رئیسی ارج نهادن به اعدام و لغو مبانی حقوق بشر، به ویژه حقوق زنان است.
با احترام از شما تقاضا داریم تا در تصمیم به برگزاری مراسم یادبود برای ابراهیم رئیسی تجدید نظر کنید. در عوض، اجازه دهید از این فرصت جهت تقویت تعهد جمعی خود به عدالت، کرامت انسانی و حاکمیت قانون استفاده کنیم.
با تشکر از توجه شما به این موضوع مهم، منتظر بررسی و پاسخ مدبرانه شما هستیم.

Your Excellency,
We are writing this letter to express our disappointment and despair over the decision to honor Ebrahim Raisi in the general assembly meeting scheduled for May 30.
Ebrahim Raisi during his tenure as a prosecutor in 1988, was a member of the “Death Committee”. He played a central role in the execution of 2,800 to 5,000 political prisoners during the 80’s. These actions have been thoroughly documented by various human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and they have left a lasting scar on the collective memory of the victims’ families and survivors. Ebrahim Raisi never apologized for those actions and he defended the act of killing thousands of prisoners as a necessity to preserve the foundations of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He continued those barbarous acts till his death, especially during the suppression of peaceful demonstrators during the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ movement.
Holding a memorial ceremony in honor of an individual responsible for such atrocities would not only be a grave injustice but also a significant affront to the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Honoring Raisi is honoring the execution and abolition of the basics of human and especially women rights,
We respectfully urge you to reconsider the decision to hold a memorial ceremony for Ebrahim Raisi. Instead, let us use this opportunity to reinforce our collective dedication to justice, human dignity, and the rule of law.
